When it comes to professional sports and taking your kids to an event in Chicago it can be a costly endeavor.
We have three kids and when we decide to take them to a pro. game, we first get on social media to see who may be dumping tickets cheap, then off the places like Stub-Hub to again try and find a deal.
We all skate and like hockey, but taking our kids to see the Blackhawks, even in the nose bleed seats means that one of them may not be going to college after we pay for tickets, parking, food etc. Not to mention “kid friendly” and pro. hockey don’t generally go hand in hand.
So like many parents you start to look for an alternative that can be equally as fun to watch but at a more affordable price point and kid friendly.
This is how we ended up deciding to go to a Chicago Wolves game, not only are the tickets affordable, there’s affordable food options, they play in Rosemont, which is much easier to get to, there is plenty of parking which is free and yes, they have managed to turn pro. hockey into a family friendly event.
A lot of times, when you hear “kids event,” it’s the same old thing, but the team has stepped up their creativity added a “Kidz Zone” a mascot and called it good. Because as you know, adding a Z to kids, makes everything more fun.
The Wolves have done their homework. No, the players don’t do a Fortnite dance after they score, but they did have a Fortnite…night, where you could play in the lobby of the All State Arena.
Yes, hockey will always be athletes on ice, skating back and fourth, playing offense and defense. The immersive environment that the Wolves have created to keep fans happy and entertained is something other pro. teams can learn from.
It’s more than pandering to families and kids, but actually doing research and offering them an additional value to the experience.
March 9th– American Girl Doll Night- The first 1000 kids get an American Girl Doll accessory.
March 10th– Arlington Park ticket giveaway, face painting, sign making, caricature drawing, and autographs with players.
April 7th-Free tickets to Santa’s Village
April 14th– Free tickets to Raging Water’s Water Park.
April ???? Dad All Day, Day? – All Dad’s get bacon, a Cuban cigar and a bottle of Pappy!!!Well maybe not yet, but they do go out of their way to make sure their promotions are relatable.
I am not getting paid or even sponsored to write about the Wolves, but I do like to write about things that make sense…Like Baconfest, April 5th!!!! When I do see something that has thought, creativity and is actually a value for families I write about it, the Wolves check all of those boxes.
Speaking of boxes, you don’t need one, because at the All State Arena, there really isn’t a bad seat. Yes, sitting on the glass is cool, you can also sit up as high as you want and not miss out on the action.
Since it’s hockey, there are plenty of games left. If you’re looking for something to add to “things to do with the kids that we can afford and will be entertaining” list, then check out the Chicago Wolves.
Here’s the cool part, if you are interested in group tickets or special events you can e-mail my friend Becky directly, bpettersen@chicagowolves.com, she will hook you up with the full Chicago Wolves experience or help you create your own.
