If you are a parent then you are fully aware of the “pleasure” of the “early rising child.” You know the culprit, the one child in your home that likes to get up before the roosters and begin their day…and yours.
The “Boy,” is the early rising child in our house, up before the sun and ready to start our say with a flurry of video games, questions, ideas and other fun stuff that can truly wait until the sun bathes the Earth.
The other morning, I was quietly trying to make it to the bathroom when I noticed his bedroom light was on, but there was no movement at all. As I snuck towards his room praying that he was okay and more importantly he didn’t notice me, I opened the door and was shocked to see what I saw. The early rising child was laying in bed…reading…a book!
This is amazing for a few reasons, he is in first grade and they are working on reading, so “star” for him. We didn’t have to yell, “read a book and” stop playing Minecraft!” Finally, he somehow snuck into my room to take my advance copy of Captain America- The Ultimate Guide to the First Avenger! Not only can he read, he will make a great burglar. Time to cash in the college fund for a hot tub!
Since we were both up, I asked The Boy, who was actually reading, what he thought of Captain America- The Ultimate Guide to the First Avenger? He began to gush: the pictures, the facts, the stories, the characters, he loved it all. We were actually on the same page about a book! My son and I were talking about a book that didn’t have “site” words” in it.
Why not? It’s another great book from our pal Matt Forbeck, the same guy who wrote the 1200 page Marvel Encyclopedia. This new book is equally as packed with information about friends, enemies, and story-lines, as it explores the exciting and rich history of the First Avenger, Captain America!.
It’s easy to follow for kids and novices, but Super Hero nerds will love it as well. It has literally “everything” from Steve Rogers’ journey from the sickly and small Army volunteer to the iconic leader of the Avengers as well as his biggest adventures, battles, allies, and foes. Marvel’s Captain America: The Ultimate Guide to the First Avenger focuses on some of the character’s most famous comic book arcs, starting from the 1941 debut of Captain America Comics #1 to modern day. Of course a forward by the “man” himself Stan Lee.
Today, April 5th is the first day Captain America- The Ultimate Guide to the First Avenger is on sale, if you’re looking for a great book, a great gift or a little extra sleep, click here to get your copy.
