Did you know on an average humans have between 90-000 and 150,000 hairs on their head:140,000 blondes, 110,000 brunettes, 90,000 for redheads.
Now if you’re an animated human like Elsa from the Academy Award winning film Frozen, you have over 400,000, about 350,000 more than Rapunzel! That’s a thick bountiful animated head of hair.
Did you know that if you try and make a snowman like Olaf, as hard as you try, getting his “stick hair” to move in different directions at the same time it’s not going to work. Trust me on this.
Did you know that while you watch Frozen which is out on DVD on March 18th when Elsa is storming off singing her now famous song, you will be able to visually see the wind.
Did you know that despite being a snowman who can sing and dance and loves “warm hugs” he walks like a toddler, his legs don’t move.
Did you know that DAD knows all of this because he was allowed to visit the rigging department of Disney Animation and meet the mad men geniuses behind the movie Frozen, the people who brought these characters to life.
Frozen is a technological master piece. Can’t see the wind? Make up a technology to see the wind. Olaf’s stick hair needs to “bounce” when he moves! Invent a technology to make it move. Elsa’s hair needs to be thicker! Give her over 400,000 strands of hair that move with her and the wind and the snow and wow! Holy crap these people are smart.
I don’t put this much thought into raising my kids, but the people who worked on Frozen sat and though and invented things to make sure that when you are watching the film, everything is as realistic as possible and then some.
Not only did the team at Disney talk us through the painstaking detail of what it takes to make an academy Award winning film, they gave DAD the controls! That’s right, they let DAD play with Olaf!
After getting the greatest minds in animation together to make an Academy Award winning film, they have the controls to….DAD? Ha! The cool think was that they made it so easy, even a blogger could do it. Move his face, make him smile, have him be a pitch man for your blog, no problem.
While you are watching Frozen in your house or mini-van or airplane seat, know that the technology behind what you’re watching is the first of its kind and though Olaf may seem goofy, he’s more high tech than anything you have ever seen before and the proud love child of a lot of very creative people.
This is the coolest thing ever. I am so jealous. You rock!
