I know it doesn’t sound romantic, but hey, we have two-2- TWO!!! Kids as a result of Valentines Day shenanigans, so our Valentine’s Day now consists of a high five, a card exchange and staying as far away from one another as possible.
I’m not an un-romantic slob, I leave the seat down in the middle of the night and let her have the last piece of cake and all that stuff, I am just safe.
Here’s our plan for Valentine’s Day weekend. I am taking the kids to see More Monster Jam at the All- State Arena, while WIFE gets a massage and enjoys a little peace and quiet.
See what I did there! The kids and I get to enjoy the high flying non-stop of Moore Monster Jam, which by the way has become a family tradition, while WIFE chill-axes.
If you are not as superstitious as WIFE and I and you have other plans for Valentine’s Day, no worries, More Monster Jam opens on Feb-12 and runs through Feb-15th, so you have plenty of other options.
More means much MORE Monster Jam. Last year More Monster Jam made its debut here in Chicago and it was a complete departure from the old Monster Jam shows that aficionados like myself are used to. More in this case is most definitely better!
Gone are the older announcers, hawking a auto parts school, replaced with young, energetic and attractive announcers who never stop moving doing with ever it takes to engage the crowd.
Gone are the random guys on ATV’s racing around in a circle, replaced by non-stop action from the athletes who operate the Monster Trucks. They are no longer “just racing” the big trucks, but have races in mini- Monster trucks that are fast, full contact and intense, as they smash into each other racing towards the finish line.
But wait there’s more just when you thought you have seen it all, they also have Monster Truck branded ATV races, with the drivers tearing it up as they weave though an insane multi-turn obstacle course, that is ripe for collisions and competition.
Finally if you are looking to take your significant other to do something special, then why not More Monster Jam? Really? I would like to quote the great Aziz Ansari‘s best-selling book Modern Romance. Just stay with me for a minute!!!
Ansari worked with a sociologist from Stanford to explore what he calls the Monster Truck Rally Theory. If you are not familiar with it, the theory is based on data that suggests most people see traditional dates (dinner and a movie, grabbing coffee, etc.) as boring, clichéd exchanges. They found that more out-of-the-box dates, such as monster truck rallies, produce stronger connections. Since Monster Jam will be at the Allstate Arena Feb. 12 – 15 with tickets starting as low as $12, it is the perfect time for you to put Aziz’s Monster Truck Rally Theory to the test.
