NOTE- I originally wrote this as the first post for DAD, however it was pointed out to me, that I should not come out swinging for the fences, so I wrote about pancakes. I have met a lot of great moms and decided to pocket this story. Now it’s time.
The DAD blog world is up in arms about a post from a close blogger friend Jenna “High Gloss Sauce” Karvunidis- Advice to stay at home dads from a cold, cold playground mom.
In a nutshell Jenna says that SAHMs for the most part shun dads on the playground and at play dates because it’s tantamount to cheating on their husbands and disrespectful.
Earlier this week after returning from a park with my boys I posted this on DADs Facebook page– “Dear Every mom in every park in America. Just because I am taking to you does not mean I want to sleep with you. Maybe just maybe it’s because our kids are playing together and I am trying to be polite. #rude #getoveryourself”
Jenna is a very kind and traditional woman who obviously feels she owes a lot to her husband for her life style, which is cool. But she’s also a hypocrite. One of the many comments Jenna made while defending her position on this topic was this.
“Jenna Karvunidis Rhonda, it has nothing to do with the husband being jealous. It has to do with D.A.D. being a MAN FOX and the ladies just can’t control themselves, so they run far, far away! RUN! Flee the near occasion of DILFiness!”
Now, I am completely flattered being called a DILF, I am not sure my wife even things I am a DILF (for another blog) however, if I was her traditional husband and I saw that she has posted on the internet that some other guy was a “Dad She Wants To Fu*k,” I would be pretty darn upset, mush more than chatting up some guy on the playground, while our kids ate sand together.
That comment is what sticks in my craw and makes my blood boil. Even using the term DILF, if a DAD used MILF in an open forum, even as a the compliment it was intended to be, he would be torn to pieces, Jenna would more than likely be leading the charge. I have been on the receiving end of a “Slut Shaming” tirade from her and her army of moms, it isn’t pretty.
When my wife and I made the decision that I would stay at home with our kids, I made the decision to go all in. This was not going to be the kids planted in front of the TV, while I surfed the net, we were going to discover and experience as much as we could together.The close minded out dated thinking that DAD’s are at the park, grocery store or rec. center trolling for a little strange is so archaic and outdated it’s laughable and keeps kids from enjoying the experience of being at home with their parent.
Forget about the commentary on your relationship, if your husband freaks out if you talk to other men, that’s just loco. My wife works with men, she has meetings with men, coffee with men, lunch with men, not once have I thought about her having sex with these men.
What makes you or any SAHM think I want to have sex with you or any other woman? Are men that primitive that if any woman says “go” they will jump on their backs and start humping away like baboon in heat? That would mean your husbands who are men and at work with women would be doing the same….ooops. It can’t go both ways, either all men are pigs and can’t be trusted or we are ok, just because your husband is bringing home the bacon doesn’t mean he isn’t laying the pipe at work?
Ladies, lets give self control, maturity and love a little credit here.
If a group of kids wouldn’t play with your kid on the playground because of their sex or hair color or race, the “bully” flags would be flying high and proud. Yes, ladies this is a form of bullying.
My goal as a DAD is to help my kids grow and nurture, just like most other parents. Part of that is the social experience of playing with other kids. Neurosis and sexism are blocking this from happening!
Let’s get one thing straight. As a DAD, who is lucky enough to have an amazing wife who works, the last thing I am going to do is mess that deal up by having sex with a 40 something stay at home mommy, with kids! Are you kidding me!
A: I Love my wife
B: That scenario ends up with one of us having to work at the GAP to pay for our one bedroom apartment.
I am blessed have a smart, hard working, intelligent, beautiful wife, who lets me chase my passions, I am not going to throw that away for a “mommy” in the burbs.
Do women have to be more careful than men when it comes to things like this, of course. However, mom’s give a stay at home dad a little credit, you never know, you might make a friend, learn a new recipe, have an hour where you and your kid can enjoy the company of another human being .
Or maybe, just maybe show your children that you are an open minded person who doesn’t judge people my the color of their skin or their sex.
