Hello:
I wanted to introduce myself to you.
Though my doctor knows me very well, to most of you I am the spinal operation at 9:00AM, or the interesting case for the medical students, or just the guy on the operating table.
I am more than all that and I wanted to fill you in on who you are taking care of today.
I am a son, a husband, a brother and a dad to three amazing children.
I have been fortunate enough to know and marry the love of my life.
I was never one of those guys who “wanted to have kids,” once I did it changed my life from second one. I learned what true, pure, unconditional love was. Some would call it God’s love, I call it a dad’s love.
That love only grew with the arrival of my other two children and continues to grow with each and every day.
I have excelled at many things in my life, but have never been more passionate about my family, being with them and sharing my love with them.
I am the victim of another person’s horrible decisions and now lay on this table, after a year a half, trusting you to return me to health.
Sure, I am doing this for me, but it is also for my family.
I have been in pain and injured for the entirety of my youngest sons life. My children have been loving, patient and even forgiving as they have watched their dad transform into something slow, broken, depressed and unable to keep up.
You have the opportunity to “bring daddy back” and return our lives to normal(as normal as life is with three kids).
I may not be the most successful DAD or the strongest DAD or the smartest DAD in the world, but I am their DAD and it’s something I cherish and can’t wait to get back to doing.
Their smiles, laughter, hugs, kisses is what keeps me going every single day.
Their smile, laughter, hugs, kisses is what I will be thinking about as I slowly drift off into unconsciousness.
Their smile, laughter, hugs, kisses is what I look forward to seeing and hearing again, when you are through with your delicate work.
