It’s time to get DAD a Father’s Day gift. You now know “how” to think when going out to find him the perfect gift, here are some cool gift ideas we found that should make your hunt easier and DAD happy on the big day.
We talked to over 200 dads about Father’s Day and the kinds of things they like. Taking the $2000 Bose Sound Bar and the 100 inch 3D TV out of the equation, we give you great gift ideas for DAD.
DAD’s like experiences and one of the things that’s hard to experience is finding the time to work out and stay in shape.
Dad may not admit it, but we like to look good naked, in a swim suit and in jeans. Even the most stuffy dad (my neighbor) in his most private moment in the back of his waspy mind is dancing in his underwear like Tom Cruise in Risky Business.
Shred415 is a monster workout for dads of every level. It’s cardio, its weights, it’s a kick ass sweaty mess that will leave dad huffing, puffing and happy that he can now fit into his old Bears Zubas!
It’s a one hour workout that will make him functionally strong, which means he will be able to bend over and pick up that crap on the floor and look good doing it.
There are three city locations and a soon to be suburban location in Northfield. Click here to Shred up dad.
Make DAD Comfy– DAD goes to games; soccer, baseball, rugby, jousting, we do a lot of sitting and cheering. Dicks Sporting Goods sells the folding rocking chair! That’s almost as great of a word combination as bacon flavored beer or mom saying “ ooh, I’ve had too much to drink.” It always ends good.
It’s a portable rocking chair, complete with cup holder, that’s easy to carry and comfortable. If DAD is going to cheer for your kids in the rain, heat and cold, make him comfy with this folding rocking chair.
Maui Jim Maui Flex Sunglasses– Sunglasses in our house have a life expectancy of a McDonalds French fry, not long. They get dropped, bent, chewed and bent out of shape.
MauiFlex metal frame provides lightweight PolarizedPlus2 coverage and a memory metal frame that flexes back to its original shape. They are flexible! It’s bendable metal! Where most sunglasses would snap, these bend and snap back into shape!
They look cool and are strong enough to take a beating from kids, pockets, sitting on them, dropping them etc. etc.
Comfy Shorts– We have two entries for this category.
First, the Lululemon Kahuna Shorts- Hiking, biking or a round of golf – whatever your DAD is into, they designed the Kahuna Short to back him up with durable, moisture wicking Ascent fabric.
The shorts are tough and look good. Lululemon is a Canadian company (a country where they used to be good at hockey). Up “there” men have hockey butts, you know kind of a bubble, because of this, they design most of their men’s shorts and pants with a little extra room back there. The end result your butt looks amazing in these bad boys. Reason enough to buy them for dad.
Option #2- Duluth Trading Company Men’s Cooldry Fire Hose Work Shorts-
If you have the kind of DAD who can’t get over wearing “yoga shorts” and would rather wear something a little “tougher looking” then these are for you. Tough, good looking, stain proof and a “crotch gusset” (my new favorite word) to give your DAD a little more room to climb and stretch as he works around the yard, golf course, job site or BBQ.
35% CoolDry polyester for powerful sweat-wicking, heat-beating performance. 65% Fire Hose cotton canvas for hard wear and abrasion resistance. If these shorts were human they would drive a pick up, have a beard and drink long neck beers out of a bucket.
Tools– Dad’s fix stuff. While the hardware stores have those massive sets of tools that you can buy for dad, most of us want a specific tool that will help us get our jobs done with ease. The Kobalt Double-Drive screw driver is the best screw driver we have ever used.
The reason is the head of the screw driver rotates on one direction whether you twist the tool left of right. It makes installing and removing stuff a snap. Lowes sells the Double-Drive as a set, with a big and small option as well as enough bits and heads to do just about anything you need.
Relaxation-DAD’s like time to themselves. A lot of guys asked for a nap, or a few hours alone. Which is cool, but we have a way to give him an experience and a way to completely decompress. Sensory Deprivation!
You have to be a little open minded, but the Space Time Tanks on Lincoln Avenue are made to completely relax DAD by floating in a tank that is sound proof, light proof and in water that is filled with Epson salts and 98.6 degrees warm.
You can’t hear, or see anything and after a few minutes of awkwardness everything melts away and “nothing” begins to happen, pure, unfiltered, nothing.
