A conversation with my son about suspended Blackhawks player Duncan Keith
Son- Dad is Duncan Keith a “bad guy?’
Me- What do you mean buddy?
Son- The guy on the news said he can’t play anymore. Then they showed him hitting another player in the head with a stick.
Me- Well they are hockey players, dude.
Son- So it’s OK to hit people in the face with hockey sticks?
Me- Well, um, no big boy, it’s not. But, um, the guy he hit was pushing him around and it made Duncan Keith mad.
Son- But you always tell me I am not supposed to hit people when I get mad. I don’t understand.
Me- Well booger, they are playing in an important game, they are playing really hard and sometimes they get mad and hit each other.
Son- They hurt other people because of a game?
Me- Well Bubba, they are trying to win the big game.
Son- But now he can’t play isn’t that bad?
Me- You’re right Poppi, he can’t play and it could be bad for the Blackhawks.
Son- That was a bad choice.
