I am using today to honor another blogger Raising Hell or Raise Them Well. Back in November Edye wrote a post that was so powerful and truthful, I immediately started using her ideas with my own kids. The title is Core Values: Father’s Who Pass Them Down.
This blog was amazing and it didn’t once talk about poop or play dates. In the blog Edye talks about setting up a set of core values for her family that they adhere to and hen broken are reminded about.
We act with honesty, integrity and truth
Hughes Men are Confident
We know who we are, no brag just fact
Now in July, my four year old son will look at me when I am getting mad at my wife and say “ Dad Wallach men respect women, always.” Which usually makes me want to scream “shut up!” But I know he’s learned and is now trying to teach me.
Our country seems to be spinning more and more out of control, this simple thing is so incredibly strong. It’s not a black thing or a white thing, or a hispanic thing or a gay thing, it’s an everybody thing. What do you believe in and are you sharing it with your family?
Our children come from us, good, bad and ugly. When we show them good, fill them with good and lead by example, it is making a path for them that is more likely to end up “good,” which ain’t bad. Maybe if we all followed their advice, the number of senseless violent incidents would decrease. Maybe?
In November, Core Values: Father’s Who Pass Them Down, got a few likes and shares. I have shred it with hundreds of people, now I am sharing it with you. If you believe in what they are saying, show them some love, like it, share it, pass it on. and maybe take a minute to think about what your core values are.
