This is Girl Power Weekend in Chicago! I couldn’t be more excited.
This is a great time to be in Chicago, I mean really any time is, but we are flying into the holiday swing, which means so many great activities for you and your family.
We are filling our weekends with new and old traditions that are sure to put a smile on their faces, start new traditions and yes…kill time. But mostly the first two.
The Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker– Ugh, this is a hard one for me, because the Teenager is now 18, a senior in high school and next year she will be gone off to college, who knows what happens after that?
We have been going to the Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker since she was “The Little Girl.” Each year we dress up, paint our nails with clear builder gel nails, have lunch or dinner downtown and then head off to see Clara, Uncle Drosselmeyer and of course the Sugar Plum Fairy dance and tell their beautiful story without a single word.
Our lives have changed, but the beauty and the magic of the Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker always leaves her with a smile on her face and her eyes wide open watching as the story unfolds in front of us.Performances run through December 30th and if this is your first time with your kids or you have been doing it for a decade like me, click here to find your seats and be a part of a tradition that I hope will last for many decades to come.
Medieval Times- Not quite a holiday tradition, but fun nonetheless. Actually all year long, Medieval Times is a great time for pretty much everyone in your family. Where else can you: eat with your hands, see knights duke it out on horseback , see a breathtaking show and feed your family?
If you been to Medieval Times and are thinking “ I have seen the show,” you are only half right. You have been to Medieval Times and have see “a show,” but not the new show! Yup, it’s all about girl power this year as the Queen is in charge and the sole ruler of the land. After 34 years, she has the power and is shaking things up.
That means a completely different show, new story line, new battles and even more action to enjoy as the knights take to the field of battle.
The Queen makes her debut this weekend, click here to get into the action.
